In a Diels-Alder reaction, two new sigma bonds are formed, and the pi bond in the dienophile is converted into a new sigma bond. The pi system of the diene is rearranged to form a new sigma bond and a new pi bond in the cyclic product. So, while the original pi bond in the dienophile is not regenerated, a new pi bond is formed in the product.
