Frequently Asked Question

Questions asked by users might not always be phrased in the clearest way.

Can HCl dissolve Al2o3 in room temperature?

Accepted Answer

Aluminum oxide (Al2O3) is amphoteric, meaning it can react with both acids and bases. While HCl is an acid, it's not strong enough to readily dissolve Al2O3 at room temperature. The reaction requires heating and a more concentrated acid like hot concentrated HCl or a strong base like NaOH.
