Strong Acid:
- Completely ionizes in water, releasing all of its ionizable hydrogen ions (H+).
- Has a pH of less than 7 (typically 0-2) and donates a proton (H+).
- Examples include hydrochloric acid (HCl), sulfuric acid (H2SO4), and nitric acid (HNO3).
Weak Acid:
- Partially ionizes in water, releasing only a small fraction of its ionizable hydrogen ions (H+).
- Has a pH greater than 7 (typically 4-6) and partially donates a proton (H+).
- Examples include acetic acid (CH3COOH), formic acid (HCOOH), and carbonic acid (H2CO3).
