Rate of Reaction:
Example: Consider the reaction A + B → C. If the concentration of A decreases from 0.5 M to 0.2 M in 10 seconds, the rate of reaction is (0.5 M - 0.2 M) / 10 s = 0.03 M/s.
Molarity:
Example: A solution contains 58.5 g of NaCl (molecular weight = 58.5 g/mol) dissolved in 1 L of water. The molarity of the solution is 58.5 g / 58.5 g/mol = 1 mol/L or 1 M.
Mole Fraction:
Example: A mixture contains 2 moles of ethanol (C2H5OH) and 3 moles of water (H2O). The mole fraction of ethanol is 2 moles / (2 moles + 3 moles) = 0.4. The mole fraction of water is 3 moles / (2 moles + 3 moles) = 0.6.
