The purity of water can be checked by conductometry. Conductivity is the ability of a substance to conduct electricity. The more ions in a solution, the higher the conductivity. Pure water has very few ions, so it has a low conductivity. As impurities are added to water, the conductivity increases. By measuring the conductivity of a water sample, it is possible to determine its purity.
