A species is likely to disproportionate if the potential for its reduction is greater than the potential for its oxidation. This is indicated on a Frost diagram by the line connecting the species in question being steeper than the line connecting the species below it. In other words, the potential difference between the species and its reduced form is greater than the potential difference between the species and its oxidized form.
