Ethylenediamine is a stronger field ligand than oxalate. This is because ethylenediamine is a bidentate ligand (can bind to the metal ion through two donor atoms) and forms a chelate ring, which leads to a greater stability of the complex formed with the metal ion. Oxalate is also a bidentate ligand but forms a less stable chelate ring.
