Anion Test
1. Take a small sample of the solution and add a few drops of dilute HCl. If CO2 gas is evolved (bubbling occurs), then carbonate ions (CO32-) are present.
Cation Test
1. To a small sample of the solution, add a few drops of dilute H2SO4. If a white precipitate forms, then lead ions (Pb2+) are present.
