Frequently Asked Question

Questions asked by users might not always be phrased in the clearest way.

The end of the end of a titration curve is flat, why? what reaction occurs

Accepted Answer

As the end point of the titration curve is approached, the solution becomes a buffer. A buffer resists changes in pH. Thus, the pH changes very slowly as titrant is added. This causes the curve to become flat at the equivalence point.
