At the equivalence point of a titration, the moles of acid and base are stoichiometrically equivalent. Since a weak acid only partially dissociates, the initial moles of the weak acid represent the total number of moles of the weak acid and its conjugate base. When a strong base is added, it reacts completely with the weak acid, converting it to its conjugate base. Therefore, at the equivalence point, the moles of conjugate base formed equal the initial moles of the weak acid.
