- Borntrager's test: Anthraquinones give a red to violet color with concentrated sulfuric acid.
- Alkaline hydrolysis test: Anthraquinones yield anthraquinone derivatives upon alkaline hydrolysis.
4. Phenols:
- Ferric chloride test: Phenols give a blue to green color with ferric chloride solution.
- Liebermann's test: Phenols give a blue to green color with concentrated sulfuric acid and sodium nitrite.
5. Steroids:
- Lieberman-Burchard test: Steroids give a green to blue color with acetic anhydride and concentrated sulfuric acid.
- Salkowski test: Steroids give a red to violet color with concentrated sulfuric acid.
