So im making methyl cinnamate from cinnamic acid and methanol using sulfuric acid as the catalyst. i want to use a drying agent during the esterification so the reverse reaction cannot occur. im currently using sodium sulfate but i recently learned that it doesnt work as well under high heat. im also remove silica gel because it is annoying to work with. i dont have magnesium sulfate

Calcium chloride is a good drying agent that can be used under high heat. It is also relatively easy to work with.
